RJ May

Lexington, South Carolina

RJ May is a conservative lawmaker from South Carolina. Elected to the Palmetto State’s House of Representatives in 2020, RJ made an immediate impact on the state’s lower chamber by helping organize the fractured far-right.

While not legislating, RJ runs Ivory Tusk Consulting (ITC), the go-to public relations firm for conservative primary challengers and longshot Republicans in South Carolina.

Prior to founding ITC, RJ served as the Executive Director of the South Carolina Club for Growth, the state’s leading conservative watchdog group. In that capacity, he led the organization’s candidate recruitment, independent expenditure efforts, legislative involvement, issue advocacy, research, training, and educational activities.

RJ is a magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Criminal Justice. He received his master’s degree in security and diplomacy from Tel Aviv University in Israel and is a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.

RJ lives in Lexington County with his wife (Beth), son (Bobby), and dog (Veto). He is an avid traveler, having been to over 40 countries in North and Central America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
