Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson is a father, business owner, and state senator from Hattiesburg. He has served in the Mississippi Legislature since 2016, first as a member of the House of Representatives before being elected to the Mississippi State Senate in 2019. Chris serves as Chairman of the newly created Government Structure Committee and Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee.
During his time in the Legislature, Chris has supported legislation to cut taxes, improve education, increase public safety, protect Mississippians’ constitutional rights, bring in more high-paying jobs, and incentivize economic growth from new and expanding businesses. He has also helped secure over $100M in economic development and infrastructure projects for the Pine Belt.
He is a graduate of Pearl River Community College and The University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned a BS in Accounting. Chris is a Fellow of the Civil Society Fellowship – founded in partnership with ADL and the Aspen Institute – and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. In 2017, the Hattiesburg American recognized him as a “Top 12 Under 40.”
