Joelle Cannon

Springfield, Missouri

Joelle Cannon wrote a book on wasteful government spending. She spent over a decade on Capitol Hill staffing conservatives in Congress on federal budget and tax policy. Joelle co-wrote the annual Wastebook and other revealing reports, and her work investigating federal spending has been profiled in Fox News, Forbes, Barron’s, and the Washington Post, which dubbed her a “rising budget hotshot.”  Before moving home to work for Senator Roy Blunt, Joelle served as Budget Director for the late Senator Tom Coburn, was the Deputy Policy Director for the Senate Republican Conference and worked for the Republican Study Committee under then Congressman Mike Pence.  Joelle now lives in southwest Missouri with her daughter, and is the Director of Government Affairs for Liberty Utilities. She spends her spare time teaching federal budget classes at Johns Hopkins University, running, and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs.
