Nic Horton

Nic Horton is the founder and CEO of Opportunity Arkansas. A lifelong Arkansan, Nic has been in the conservative movement for more than a decade and engaged in policy work in roughly half the United States. Nic’s portfolio of work ranges from Medicaid and food stamps reform to tax and spending. His research and writings have been highlighted in The Wall Street Journal, Fox News, Forbes, National Review Online, the Washington Examiner, and Townhall, among other outlets. Nic has also appeared on numerous talk radio shows nationwide and has testified before legislatures in nearly a dozen states.

Nic started his career as a citizen journalist, focusing on holding elected officials accountable on spending and taxes. That work eventually led him to become the editor of The Arkansas Project, the state’s largest conservative news site at the time. Nic’s passion for welfare reform eventually led him to the Foundation for Government Accountability, where he published more than 50 research studies and built the organization’s research department from the ground up. Nic also worked as a policy advocate in Arkansas where he was responsible for nearly 100 policy wins.

He founded Opportunity Arkansas in 2022 which works to simplify government and solve generational problems for the next generation. Also in 2022, Nic launched Red Truck Strategies, a research firm providing strategic consulting services for conservative non-profits.

Nic resides in Conway, Arkansas, with his wife and children. He holds a BS and MBA from Harding University.
