Washington, D.C. – The Club for Growth Foundation has published its latest policy report, presenting an innovative approach that could help the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) leverage AI technology to address overbearing federal regulations.
The report, authored by 2023 Club for Growth Foundation Fellow Jason Killmeyer, proposes how such a strategy might reset the relationship between citizens and the state by streamlining regulatory frameworks.
The report analyzes the challenges posed by over 200,000 pages of federal regulations and 90,000 annual pages of revisions, which impose significant costs on small and mid-size manufacturers—up to $50,000 per employee annually. Killmeyer’s proposal, Operation Brushfire, examines the potential of training a large language model (LLM) to identify explicit and implicit violations of the Bill of Rights inherent in regulations. The LLM could also be trained to locate deceptive and misleading regulations that undermine legislative intent as well as potentially identify conflicting and overlapping rules in order to eliminate redundancies in the regulatory landscape.
