Washington, D.C. – Club for Growth Foundation has released its latest batch of 2023 State Economic Scorecards, offering a detailed study of where lawmakers from Arizona, Florida, and Idaho stand on issues pertaining to economic growth.
The Club for Growth Foundation’s mission is to educate the public on the advantages of a free-market, limited government approach to public policy. By making the information from its state level scorecards consistently and widely available, the Club for Growth Foundation provides Americans across the country with an in-depth analysis of where individual legislators stand on the policies that have a direct impact on their everyday lives.
The Foundation conducted a thorough examination of each legislator’s voting record to calculate an Economic Growth Score on a scale of 0 to 100. A score of 100 indicates the highest support for pro-growth economic policies. In 2023, the Foundation assessed:
- 20 Arizona State House votes, 20 Arizona State Senate votes.
- 12 Florida State House votes, 12 Florida State Senate votes.
- 20 Idaho State House votes, 19 Idaho State Senate votes.
Votes included in Club for Growth Foundation’s reports are related to the Club’s immediate pro-economic growth policy goals, including:
- Reducing or eliminating taxes and enacting tax reform
- Limited government through limited spending and budget reform
- Regulatory reform and deregulation
- Ending abusive lawsuits through medical malpractice and tort reform
- Expanding school choice
- Implementing term limits
Not all of these policy positions will come up for a vote in each legislative session. The Foundation also examines votes on bills that would directly harm these legislative goals.
“By releasing legislative scorecards for individual lawmakers on the state level, the Club for Growth Foundation’s objective is to create a more informed population on the issues that impact their day-to-day lives,” said Club for Growth Foundation President David McIntosh. “Unfortunately, at both the state and federal levels, much of the legislative process is shrouded in political jargon and backroom dealings. With its scorecard series, the Club for Growth Foundation gives Americans a firsthand look into how each legislator views the issues that affect them most.”
Club for Growth Foundation plans to release similar scorecards for state legislatures across the country.
