Club for Growth Foundation Releases 2023 Iowa State Economic Scorecard

Washington, D.C. – The Club for Growth Foundation published its 2023 Iowa state economic scorecard, providing a comprehensive look into where state legislators from the Hawkeye state stand on key economic policy.

The Foundation conducted a thorough examination of each lawmaker’s record on votes related to pro-growth policies and calculated an Economic Growth Score on a scale of 0 to 100. A score of 100 indicates the highest support for pro-growth policies. This year, the Club for Growth Foundation evaluated over 650 floor votes and, in the end, included 11 votes in both the Iowa House and Senate. These votes included support for transformative education savings accounts and a prohibition on taxpayer-financed ESG investments, as well as opposition to tax credit expansions for special interests.

“With the Club for Growth Foundation’s state economic scorecard series, our aim is to provide a greater understanding to the people of Iowa on where their legislators stand on pro-growth economic legislation,” said Club for Growth Foundation President David McIntosh. “By offering this increased transparency, Iowans will be better informed on decisive economic policies.”

Club for Growth Foundation plans to release similar scorecards for state legislatures across the country.
