Washington, D.C. – The Club for Growth Foundation has released its 2023 Kentucky state economic scorecard, providing residents of the Bluegrass State with a breakdown of where each representative in Frankfort stands on policies pertaining to free-markets and economic growth.
The mission of the Club for Growth Foundation is to educate the public on the virtues of economic freedom and limited government. By distributing the results of its state level economic scorecard across the state, the Club for Growth Foundation provides Kentuckians, and Americans across the country, the resources needed to understand key legislation.
The Foundation conducted a thorough examination of each legislator’s record on votes related to policies that either promote or undermine economic growth and calculated an Economic Growth Score on a scale of 0 to 100. A score of 100 indicates the highest support for economic freedom. This year, the Club for Growth Foundation evaluated over 670 floor votes and, in the end, included 16 Kentucky House votes and 14 Kentucky Senate votes. These votes included opposition to policies such as a $69.4 million electric vehicle infrastructure expansion while just 0.06% of registered cars in Kentucky being EVs and a $318 million taxpayer funded Medicaid expansion in 2023, as well as support for legislation that would lower the state’s income tax rate to 4.5%.
Club for Growth Foundation plans to release similar scorecards for state legislatures across the country.
