Club for Growth Foundation Releases 2024 Wyoming State Economic Scorecard

Washington, D.C. – The Club for Growth Foundation released its 2024 Wyoming State Economic Scorecard, providing Wyomingites with a comprehensive analysis of how individual legislators evaluate key economic policies. Center Square’s Zachery Schmidt covered the release in an exclusive report.

The Foundation’s mission is to educate the public on the importance of economic freedom and limited government. By publishing the Wyoming State Economic Scorecard, the Foundation gives citizens a clear view of how legislative actions affect economic opportunity and growth.

The Foundation conducted a detailed examination of each legislator’s voting record on policies affecting economic growth, calculating an Economic Growth Score on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 representing the highest support for economic freedom. In 2024, the Scorecard assessed over 850 votes, including 19 Wyoming House votes and 15 Wyoming Senate votes. These votes encompass significant policy areas such as legislation that created a statewide education savings account program for K-12 students with $6,000 in annual funding and a bill that capped annual property tax increases for single-family homes. The Club for Growth Foundation also opposed a 37% increase in Wyoming’s biennial budget that included $1 billion in new spending and a proposal that stripped $10 million from Wyoming’s rainy-day fund to subsidize green energy experiments.

“Through our scorecard series, the Club for Growth Foundation equips Wyomingites with the tools to understand how their state legislators are shaping or threatening economic freedom,” said Club for Growth Foundation President David McIntosh. “While both chambers of the State’s Legislature passed bills that will benefit the economic wellbeing of its citizens, there is still work to be done in Cheyenne. Lawmakers in the state must continue to prioritize economic freedom for all citizens of the Cowboy State by limiting the size and scope of government.”

The Club for Growth Foundation continues to release similar scorecards across the country, with 22 state scorecards published in 2023.
