Jeffrey Bristol

Jeffrey Bristol is a lawyer, Naval officer and scholar. He currently works as an attorney with the Paul Parrish Law Firm handling civil litigation. Previously, he worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Pinellas County handling a variety of challenging criminal cases. Dr. Bristol is a veteran of both the US Army and Navy. He enlisted in the Army in June 2001 and served five years on Active Duty as a Persian-Farsi linguist. He has since accepted a commission in the Navy Reserves. He deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Bristol is also an anthropologist. He has conducted fieldwork researching Islamic law in both the Sahara and the United States. During the course of his work as a scholar, he taught at several universities. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from Boston University, a JD from the University of Michigan Law School, an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Chicago, a BA in History/Anthropology/Languages from Marlboro College and an AA in Persian-Farsi from the Defense Language Institute. He lives in Tampa with his wife and son.
