Newport Beach Mayor Will O’Neill (2020 · 2024) graduated from Stanford University (B.A. History) and then U.C. Hastings College of the Law (J.D.). He is a partner at a small law firm and previously worked for California Supreme Court Justice Marvin Baxter (Ret.). As a two-time Mayor and a City Council Member, Will has led on his city’s pension reform, overhauled his city’s civil asset seizure reform, and reduced his city’s overly-bureaucratic set of Council polices by over 30,000 words and municipal code by over 20,000 words. As former Chair of the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor Agency and former Finance Committee Chair, Will co-authored debt policies and helped lead an effort that reduced debt by $1.275 billion. Will and his wife, Jenny, are raising two young children named Aubrey and Sean.
